Millersport news: Methodist Church to host Christmas Eve candlelight service

Millersport Methodist Church will hold its annual Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 2310 Refugee Street in Millersport. All are welcome to join in celebrating the birth of Jesus. Sunday morning worship begins at 10 a.m.

Students of the Month

The November Students of the Month for Millersport Junior/Senior High School were named.

  • 12th Grade – Brenden Jakeway and Roni Rarey

2023 yearbooks

Millersport High School 2023 Yearbooks are in. All class of 2023 alumni should stop into the office to pick theirs up. There are a few copies still available for sale at $55 each.

Blood drive

A Red Cross Blood Drive will be held at Millersport High School on Friday, December 29th.

Senior citizens

The Fairfield Beach Senior Citizens held their December meeting Dec. 13 at the American Legion Hall on Canal Drive in Millersport. Twenty members enjoyed a potluck dinner featuring ham as the main entrée. Marty Holtz led the group in singing “Jingle Bells” and Ken Keener offered prayer before the meal.

President Carol Kitzmiller conducted the business meeting. Members signed up for the monthly Kitchen Committee for 2024. Those with December birthdays were recognized: Carol King, Karen Mosher, Carol Kitzmiller, Richard Neff and Frances Runkle. Ken Keener ended the meeting with some humorous readings. Door Prizes were won by Bill Yates, Don Love, Karen Pairan, Dave Holtz, Liz Hoermle, Carol King, Ken Keener, Drenille Keener, Debbie Gant and Ron Pairan.

The Fairfield Beach Senior Citizens meets the second Wednesday of each month at noon for a potluck lunch. Anyone who is 55 years of age and older is encouraged to join for food, fun and fellowship.

Retired Teachers' Association

Six retirees of the Walnut Township Local Schools attended the December meeting of the Fairfield County Retired Teachers’ Association at Cheers Chalet Dec. 12. The group enjoyed a delicious turkey dinner. Entertainment was provided by the Assembly Singers of Fairfield Union High School.

President Tim Shumaker conducted the business meeting. Members donated hats, gloves, socks and underwear for Maywood Mission and money was collected to be donated to Salvation Army. Shirley Wasem thanked everyone who helped man the Old Schoolhouse at the Fairfield County Fair. Jay Bahnsen reported on the awarding of this year’s Marlo Mills Scholarship. Bonnie Bolsen gave the Necrology Report with a moment of silence observed in their memory.

The Fairfield County Retired Teachers’ Association meets the second Tuesday of March, June, September and December. The next meeting will be Tuesday, March 12, at noon at Cheers Chalet with entertainment by Debbie Wright. All retired teachers are encouraged to join. Tree lighting

The Millersport “Winter Tree Lighting Parade” was held in the village on Sunday, Dec. 3. Parents and children were able to visit with Santa at Mathias Miller Park and enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with cookies and doughnuts.
