Millersport news: Miracle on Lancaster Street on Nov. 12

All veterans are invited to attend the Veterans Day Dinner at 5 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 13 at the Millersport United Methodist Church. This is a special time to show our thanks to the veterans of our community. Veterans are encouraged to come and celebrate with their Veteran friends, enjoy the meal and the program that has been planned.

Miracle on Lancaster Street

Miracle on Lancaster Street will be held from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 in downtown Millersport. Join Santa for a horse drawn carriage ride.

Senior citizens

The Millersport Senior Citizens met Nov. 4 at Sunset Inn for lunch and the meeting with 20 members and two guests present. Birthday cards were given members who were celebrating November birthdays. Plans were discussed for the Christmas luncheon. Door prizes were awarded and the remainder of the time was spent in fellowship. The next meeting will be a potluck lunch to be held at noon Friday, Nov. 18 at the Millersport Lions Clubhouse. Anyone who is 55 years of age and older is encouraged to join.

Walnut Township Trustees

The Walnut Township Trustees met Nov. 1, in the township office. A representative of a Solar Energy Project was present to give information and answer questions.

Reports were given on a visiting Fiscal Officer’s assistance, BWC Audit, Insurance, OTA Conference registration, and Sunshine Law designee.

During the time for public participation several comments were made concerning short term rentals.

Township Department reports were given by department heads. Chief Price of the Walnut Township Fire Department reported on the donation received from the Eagles Lodge and run totals for the month of October. Zoning Inspector Mike Berry reported on permits issued, variances, letters and phone calls returned. Nathan Wagner, Parks Supervisor and Roads Supervisor, reported on Porta-Johns being pulled from the parks and damage to the parks and soccer fields. He also reported on equipment issues, patching of roadways, mowing, berms, getting snow plows ready and the County Road & Bridge Allocation. It was noted that the Property Inspector position needs to be filled.

Items of old business included an update on the North Walnut Stormwater Conveyance Project, the Fairfield Beach Storm Water Project, a Parking Resolution, and the Holder Road issue.

Items of new business discussed were all of the insurance of the township, the bid for a new medic truck, hiring of a new Recording Secretary for Zoning, Adoption of the Millersport Fire Department SOPs and SOGs for the Walnut Township Fire Department, the maintenance contract for certain fire department equipment, and replacement of Life Packs.
