Millersport news: Sweet Corn Festival Committee meets Tuesday to prepare for Diamond Jubilee
The Millersport Lions Community Market will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 23 at the Millersport Sweet Corn Festival grounds, Chautauqua Boulevard in Millersport.
The Lions Club Program Gathering will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 21 in the Lions Clubhouse. The Lions Scholarship recipients will be honored.
The Sweet Corn Festival Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 26 in preparation for the 75th Millersport Lions Sweet Corn Festival Diamond Jubilee. The Sweet Corn Festival will be held Aug. 31, Sept. 1, 2, and 3.

Board of Education
The Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education met July 11. High School Principal Megan Terry reported that Summer School will wrap Thursday, July 28. Some students have finished their courses including one senior who finished her final course for graduation on Friday. Twelve students came in to retake state tests. Higher scores will assist students in earning graduation seals and minimum scores for graduation. Scores will be released next week for science, math and social studies. ELA scores will be released on Aug. 17. Seventeen students scored a 3 or higher on their AP exams. Volleyball camp and boys’ basketball camp are being held. Girls’ basketball camp and softball camps were held in June.
Superintendent Will Kirby reported on the HVAC project, the track project, staffing and the transition to the interim superintendent.
The board approved an increase of 1.5% based on performance of goals for the treasurer.
The Board approved a Resolution determining to proceed with the proposition of a renewal income tax of 1.75% to be on the Nov. 8 ballot.
