Millersport news: Tour of food pantry scheduled for Saturday

The community is invited to tour the Millersport Community Food Pantry from 10 a.m. to Noon Saturday. Hot dogs, popcorn, tea and lemonade will be available. On each hour a $25 Kroger Gift Card will be given away. Come out for fun, food and to learn more about the operation of the food pantry. The Food Pantry is regularly open from 7 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays.

Senior citizens

The Fairfield Beach Senior Citizens met Oct. 12. The meeting was called to order by President Carol Kitzmiller with the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. Ken Keener blessed the food.

The minutes of the September meeting were approved as well as the Treasurer’s Report and bills to be paid. Those with October birthdays were Nancy Davis, Ron Pairan, Marty Holtz and John Lutz. Discussion was held on the November 9th meeting. The group decided to go to Bob Evans. The slate of officers for 2023 was presented with the current officers remaining in their positions. The November Committee will be Carol Kitzmiller, Carol King, and Bill Yates.

Door Prizes were won by Drenille Keener, Nancy Davis, Pat Miller, Rosie Brookover, Karen Pairan, Debbie Gant and Carol King.

Board of Education

The Walnut Township Local School District Board of Education met Oct. 10 in the Laker Learning Center. The OSBA Friend of Public Education Award was presented to Carol King. The Student Liaison Ryan Turner gave a report on opinions of the favorite lunches and possible changes the students would like to see.

Elementary Principal Kim Yenni reported on Family Fun Night, Grandparents’ Days, Fall Concert, end of the Grading Period, 3rd Grade testing, Picture Retakes, and Halloween Parties.

Megan Terry sent a written report concerning, September Students of the Month, Parent-Teacher Conferences, Homecoming, Career Center meeting, upcoming academic and athletic events.

Kyle Matthews reported on Transportation/Maintenance/Custodial items including boiler inspections, fuel, vendors’ contracts, and staffing.

Superintendent Kim Radulovich reported on the HVAC Project, Track Project, COVID update, Bus Safety Week, sports, the School Report Card, Legislative update, and transition to new Transportation/Maintenance/Custodial Supervisor and the new Assistant Principal/ Athletic Director.

School Treasurer Jill Bradford presented the Federal Funds Public Hearing. The Board approved the Treasurer’s Report, bills paid, the STAR Ohio Agreement, a transfer from the General Fund to the Permanent Improvement Fund, and the Resolution Confirming Ballot Form for Renewal of Income Tax.

Items of discussion were Staff Wall of Fame, Grounds/Maintenance Quotes, Music/Band Room Dedication, and scheduling a public session on the School Report Card to be held at the November 7th Board meeting.Treasurer Jill Bradford presented the Five-Year Forecast.

The November meeting will be held at 6 p.m. Nov. 7. The meeting date was changed due to OSBA Capital Conference being in session on Monday, Nov. 14, the regular meeting night.
