UPDATE Milton man jailed after weapon found

Apr. 17—MILTON — A Milton man is jailed on $75,000 cash bail after a weapon was found inside a Broadway Street apartment during an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the downtown area Tuesday afternoon, according to police.

Milton Police Chief Curt Zettlemoyer reported that Jose A. Rodriguez Lassalle, 27, of Broadway Street, was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer's number. Police located the weapon following a preliminary investigation, officials said.

Zettlemoyer said police were dispatched to the 10 block of Broadway Street for a report of a shooting. Officers were able to determine two individuals had been shot, Zettlemoyer said.

According to a criminal complaint, officers served a search warrant at Lassalle's apartment and discovered the weapon. The weapon, a 9mm Diamondback, was collected and logged into evidence, police said.

Zettlemoyer did not say if the weapon seized was used in the shooting, or if Lassalle was tied to the incident.

Zettlemoyer said he would release more information at a later time. The investigation is still ongoing, he said.

District Attorney Mike O'Donnell said there was no threat to the public.

Zettlemoyer said anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact Milton police at 570-742-8757.

Lassalle appeared before Milton District Judge Mike Diehl Wednesday morning and was sent to Northumberland County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
