The team that brought you a hairiest back contest and a prostate exam between periods announced its latest completely Milwaukee minor-league promotion.

In an announcement Friday morning that included team President Jon Greenberg cracking open a Coors Light for a slug at 7:30 a.m., the Milwaukee Admirals announced in a Facebook Live session the club would change its name for one weekend next month.

The Admirals will become the Milwaukee Fish Fry.

They’ll wear red-and-white checkerboard sweaters that make the team's Bob Uecker gold plaid sportscoat uniforms look downright classy.

Fried fish will be available at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena. A $35 ticket package includes a voucher for a fish fry at Buck Bradley’s, Saz’s or Steny’s.

And the March 11-12 “Made in Milwaukee Weekend” promotion has its own website: milwaukeefishfry.net. Get it? Dot net?

“We were looking to do a ‘Made in Milwaukee’ weekend, of just all things Milwaukee, and we were looking for a second specialty jersey to be able to do,” Greenberg said, crediting team owner Harris Turer for the idea.

“We’re trying to really go a little bit crazy with the jersey this year, and certainly Bob’s jerseys were an inspiration, if that can be used as the right word. This concept with the red tablecloths is going to be really fun to watch when it gets on the ice.

“We hope this becomes the first in a series of annual events of ‘Made in Milwaukee’ where we come up with a different concept for a jersey each year. Fish fry is first, and we’ll see where it goes in the future.”

The jerseys will be up for silent auction online from March 9 to about game time March 12, with money raised going to the Admirals Power Play Foundation, the team’s charitable arm.

The Admirals have a history of catchy and sometimes boundary-pushing promotions from a mini-concert by Tiny Tim (the kitschy 1970s act known for his falsetto and ukulele) to pro wrestling to a jockstrap giveaway.

Details on other promotional elements of the Admirals’ Made in Milwaukee weekend are yet to come, Greenberg said.
