Ah, Feb. 14, the day to celebrate the love of food. Wait, that's not right … to celebrate love with food.

Here's a sampling of Valentine's Day specials you can find at restaurants around the metro Milwaukee area (prices don't include tax or tip). Reservations for most special menus are required — and advised even if they're not. It's always best to reserve sooner rather than later.

But if you're waiting until the last minute, it never hurts to reach out. Cancellations and no-shows (don't let that be you) happen.

Ardent

The 12-course tasting menu for Valentine's Day will include a sparkling wine toast. There will be two seatings, at 5 and 8:30 p.m. Dinner is $195, plus $150 for optional beverage pairings. 1751 N. Farwell Ave. Reservations through exploretock.com/ardent.

Lake Park Bistro

A three-course menu plus an hors d'oeuvre, with multiple options for diners, will be served on Valentine's weekend. Some of the choices, from hors d'oeuvre to dessert, include mushroom soup with gougère and black truffle; lobster ravioli in cream sauce; skate wing with fingerlings and green beans; and strawberry-Champagne cake. Lupi and Iris

A three-course menu, which starts at $75, will be served Feb. 10 to 14. Optional wine pairings are available. Among the multiple choices for each course are roasted beet salad with feta, citrus segments and greens; braised beef with polenta, Swiss chard and mushrooms; and chocolate tart with whipped raspberry ganache. 777 N. Old Town Serbian Gourmet Restaurant

"Love, Serbian Style" is the theme for the day. Specials include heart-shaped bureks, the flaky, filled savory pastries ($22) and fresh lobster cognac phyllo pies ($35) that must be ordered in advance, at the time reservations are made. For dessert, chocolate meringue brownie cake with raspberries ($9) and strawberry schaum torte ($8). Drink specials are white chocolate rose martinis with whipped vanilla vodka ($12) and sparkling wine with fresh strawberries ($9). Shully's Cuisine and Events

The "love language" dinner on Feb. 14 will include five courses plus passed appetizers, an amuse-bouche of an oyster on the half shell and optional wine pairings. One of the hors d'oeuvres will be cream puffs with whipped foie gras and balsamic pearls; the fourth course is sliced Wagyu with bone marrow salsa, sauce choron, parsley lemon salad and corn tortilla. Three Brothers Serbian Restaurant

In addition to an entree special for Valentine's Day, Three Brothers will have several small plate or first-course specials and desserts for the day. They are blue cheese torte with pear jam ($11), a Serbian-style tamal of whipped cornmeal filled with rice and sheep's cheese ($9.50), and roasted Serbian sausage in grape jus over polenta ($13). The Union House

A shareable Valentine's dinner for two will be offered Feb. 10 to 18 for $200. It's three courses: ravioli al tartufo (goat cheese ravioli with truffle-fennel cream); 20-ounce Angus porterhouse steak with blue-crab-stuffed lobster tail, roasted shallot and red wine butter, and choice of potato and vegetable; and strawberry entremet, a cocoa cake filled with strawberry mousse. West Allis Cheese and Sausage Shoppe

A nine-course tasting-menu dinner with pairings, inspired by the first-class tasting menu aboard the Titanic, will be served in the shop's cafe at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14. Some of the courses include poached salmon with sauce mousseline, compressed cucumber and dill; duet of duck and squab with brûléed Calvados apples and cress; and gilded eclair.
