Milwaukee Bucks offer free tickets to first 50 who donate to winter clothing drive for Afghan families on Saturday

The Milwaukee Bucks and a disaster relief organization will hold a winter clothing drive for Afghan evacuees Saturday outside Fiserv Forum.

The first 50 people to make a donation will receive two free tickets to the Bucks' Dec. 15 game against the Indiana Pacers.

The drive is being spearheaded by the nonprofit Team Rubicon, which has been managing donations at Fort McCoy and other military bases housing Afghan families evacuated from their country last summer.

Team Rubicon is requesting donations of clothing and household items for families who are transitioning from the bases into apartments and homes across the country.

The drive will take place 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the empty lot where the Bradley Center used to stand, 1001 N. Vel R. Phillips Ave.

Team Rubicon asks people to donate the following items:

  • Men’s shoes, size 7-9

  • Men’s pants, size 30 waist and smaller

  • Kids’ shoes, all sizes

  • Women’s shoes, size 5-8

  • Laundry detergent pods

  • Vaseline tubs

  • Baby powder or oil

  • Soap/body wash bottles

  • Gift cards accepted

All items must be new and in their original packaging. All clothing must be conservative. Think modest styles such as crewnecks, turtlenecks and long sleeves, Team Rubicon said in a news release.
