Milwaukee Day is Friday! Here's your guide to drinks, music and deals, including $4.14 select Brewers tickets

While Milwaukee should be celebrated every day, there's an annual citywide celebration dedicated to it — and it's this Friday.

Since 2010, "Milwaukee Day" has been celebrated on April 14 (4/14) since it has the same digits as the city's area code, 414.

There will be drinks a flowing, parties, deals, freebies, live local music and more. Here's a guide to what's going on for 414 Day in 2023.

414 Flag unfurling at City Hall with breakfast burritos, coffee, Milwaukee Pro Soccer swag. Free 414 Beer at shop while supplies last.

414 Milwaukee — which sells 414 apparel, hats and products — will once again unfurl the giant 414 Flag from the balcony of City Hall at 8 a.m. on Milwaukee Day. There will be breakfast burritos from Bel Air, coffee from Fuel Coffee, and free swag from Milwaukee Pro Soccer, according to a news release.

The business' store, 207 E. Buffalo St., No. 318, will give out free 414 Beer while supplies last, the news release said. A new 414 baseball jersey will be available for purchase. The author of "Milwaukee Scavenger: The Ultimate Search for Milwaukee’s Hidden Treasures," Jenna Kashou, will be signing copies at the shop from noon to 2 p.m.

Live performances, art, a raffle and silent auction at The Outsider rooftop bar

The Outsider, the Kimpton Journeyman Hotel's rooftop bar, will be celebrating "all things MKE" with a gallery showcasing Milwaukee art; live performances including music and art painting; raffle prizes; silent auction items; specialty cocktails; and happy hour items, according to a news release.

While the event is open to the public, people who wish to upgrade their experience can purchase VIP tickets for $50 each, which include priority access in the event of a line, a complimentary welcome cocktail and a raffle ticket for an item of the attendee's choice. Tickets are available at bit.ly/3GCbMvu.

A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to True Skool, a nonprofit that aims to guide Milwaukee youth through hip-hop-oriented arts education and mentorship. The Outsider will also collaborate with Milwaukee-born streetwear brand Unfinished Legacy to raise money for the nonprofit.

According to the news release, the event's entertainment lineup includes Protégé, Darylanne, Big AP, DJ Gemini Gilly, DJ the Jenius and Boodah Darr. Featured guests include Liv, the Unfinished Legacy crew, Jason Cristensen, Petyon Farley and more.

The event runs from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. on the ninth floor of the hotel, 310 E. Chicago St.

Live music, art, vendors and libations at The Cooperage

In partnership with Breaking and Entering, The Cooperage will host a 414 Day celebration featuring live music, live art, vendors and "local libations," according to its event page.

The lineup includes Tigera, Twan Mack, BJ Seidel, RealityTV and DJ Dripsweat. And, there will be live art from Non-Pop.

The event, at 822 S. Water St., runs from 7 to 11:30 p.m., with music beginning at 8 p.m. There's a $10 cover. Tickets are also available at cooperagemke.com/event/milwaukee-day-2023.

People can get select Brewers tickets for $4.14 to these 3 upcoming games against Detroit

The Milwaukee Brewers will offer select tickets for $4.14 each for three upcoming games against the Detroit Tigers during a flash sale Friday in honor of 414 Day, the Brewers announced Thursday.

The flash sale runs from 10 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. April 14. The offer, courtesy of UScellular, is first come, first served.

Fans can purchase $4.14 tickets for the Terrace Level, Loge Outfield and Loge Bleachers for the games on April 24 at 6:40 p.m., April 25 at 6:40 p.m., and April 26 at 12:40 p.m.

Each person is limited to eight tickets per game.

“414 Day is the official celebration of all things Milwaukee, and attending a Brewers game is a quintessentialMilwaukee experience,” Rick Schlesinger, Brewers president of business operations, said in a news release. “Last year’s 414 Day promotion was a great success, and we look forward to bringing it back for another round this year.”

Patrons get their first brandy old fashioned free between 4:14 and 5:30 p.m. at Central Standard Distillery

At Central Standard Crafthouse & Kitchen, patrons will get their first brandy old fashioned cocktail for free between 4:14 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. during a "special 4.14 Day happy hour," according to a news release.

“There’s no better way to honor and celebrate all that Milwaukee is than by raising a locally made cocktail crafted with brandy from a local Milwaukee company,” Pat McQuillan, the business' co-founder, said in the release. “On 414 Day, every Milwaukeean is a VIP and we can’t wait to give everyone their first Brandy Old Fashioned cocktail free on Friday, April 14.”

Central Standard is located at 320 E. Clybourn St.

Live art, music, food and 414 Day T-shirts at Elwood's Liquor & Tap

To celebrate Milwaukee Day, Elwood's Liquor & Tap will feature live art by Banjo Tatto, music from Steve Marxx and food from Las Virellas Food Truck.

Limited 414 Day T-shirts will be available for purchase.

The bar, 1111 N. Water St., opens early, at 2 p.m., that day.

$4.14 tickets to Harley-Davidson Museum. Starting at 3 p.m., free State Fair tickets, koozies for first 120 people at Motor Bar and Restaurant.

Harley-Davidson Museum tickets cost $4.14 for on Milwaukee Day when purchased online in advance (same-day purchases available). The museum, 400 W. Canal St., Milwaukee, will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the first 120 people who visit the Motor Bar and Restaurant will receive a free 2023 Wisconsin State Fair general admission ticket, as well as a 414 Day 2023 OnMilwaukee/H-D Museum koozie.

Patrons will get their first beer for free from a keg courtesy of Lakefront Brewery while supplies last. OnMilwaukee's Matt Mueller will lead a city toast — “414 Let’s have one more!” — at 4:14 p.m.

The bar and restaurant will feature a special 4.14-pound burger, as well as its all-you-can-eat fish fry and Clock Shadow Creamery cheese curds.

Historic Milwaukee, Inc.'s 414 Day Sale

Historic Milwaukee, Inc. is putting on a 414 Day Sale once again. It'll be held on Milwaukee Day, as well as April 15.

Both online and in-store, all neighborhood posters will cost $4.14 each. And, the combo poster will be discounted by $4.14, so it will come out to $15.86.

Customers who spend $100 in-store, at 235 E. Michigan St., will get a free copy John Gurda’s "City of Neighborhoods" book for free.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Shipping and curbside pickup are also available.

Sprecher Brewery discounted tours, root beer with limited-edition 414 label and Milwaukee flag baseball cap

Sprecher Brewery will be selling its root beer with a special commemorative, limited-edition 414 label for $5 for a four-pack.

A 414 root beer four pack that also comes with a Sprecher baseball cap featuring the Milwaukee flag will be available for $22. The first 40 people who purchase this $22 option will receive a custom magnet that matches the hat's patch.

These items will be sold only at the brewery's gift shop, 701 W. Glendale Ave., Glendale, while supplies last. The shop is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The brewery's April 14 tours will be discounted by $4, meaning adult tickets will cost $8 that day. Minors' tickets will cost $5, and children under 5 always receive free admission. Tours are 45 minutes long, and include a commemorative glass, four 8-ounce beer samples for participants at least 21 years old, and unlimited craft soda. High Speed Wit is described as a "robust and round" witbier with flavors of orange, lemon and a touch of cinnamon, according to a news release. It's balanced by the earthy nuttiness of Belgian yeasts. "A creamy white head gives the right amount of zing to finish the beer."

$4.14 for Bars & Recreation activities including ax throwing, shuffleboard, mini golf and karaoke

On Milwaukee Day, Bars & Recreation, a Milwaukee-based group of activity bars, will offer a special rate of $4.14 per person at each of its establishments:

  • AXE MKE, 1924 E. Kenilworth Place, offers ax throwing.

  • NorthSouth Club, 230 E. Pittsburgh Ave., features full-size deck shuffleboard facility and ax throwing.

  • Nine Below, 1905 E. North Ave., has team-based indoor mini golf.

  • Amped, 910 W. Juneau Ave., features private suite karaoke.

Since space is limited, reservations are recommended and can be made at barsandrecreation.com, according to a news release.

“We are proud to call Milwaukee home and celebrate this day in appreciation of the people who support us year-round" Erin Hochevar, Bars & Rec vice president, said in the release. “Come in, let loose, enjoy some local beer and food surrounded by your neighbors and friends.”

Unlimited State Line Distillery cocktails, Lakefront Brewery beers at Uncle Bucks' rooftop party

Uncle Bucks' 414 Rooftop Party will feature unlimited handcrafted State Line Distillery cocktails and Lakefront Brewery beers. There will also be hourly raffles.

Tickets cost $45 and are available at bit.ly/3MzVW8v. $5 of every ticket purchase will be donated to the MACC Fund. The bar is located at 1125 N. King Drive.

Admirals game with free Summerfest tickets

The Milwaukee Admirals will host "414 Night," as well as "Summerfest Night" on Friday. Can't get much more Milwaukee than that.

The Ads take on the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. at the Panther Arena, 400 W. Kilbourn Ave. All attendees will receive one free Summerfest 2023 single day admission ticket in celebration of the Big Gig's 55th anniversary.

There will also be giveaways throughout the game and a postgame concert with Stone Temple Pilots.

414 Day Kickback with drinks, food, games and music at Walker's Lounge

The Social X MKE 414 Day Kickback at Walker's Lounge will "celebrate everything that makes Milwaukee unique," according to its event page. There will be drinks, food, games, and tunes by DJ Mister Martin.

Attendees must be at least 25 years old, per the event's poster. The first 100 people will receive a customized 414 Day cup.

The event, at 626 S. Fifth St., will run from 6 to 10 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and are available at socialxmke.com/events/414day23.

Indeed Brewing Company serving up limited-release 414 Day Flights

To celebrate Milwaukee Day, Indeed Brewing Company will tap special small-batch infusion kegs that feature its "Hello, Milwaukee" American Lager.

Its limited-release 414 Day Flight includes:

  • Brass Monkey Beermosa ("Hello, Milwaukee" infused with orange juice and orange zest).

  • Wake Up, Milwaukee ("Hello, Milwaukee" infused with whole coffee beans).

  • Milwaukee Hot Pepper ("Hello, Milwaukee" infused with dried chile de árbol and cinnamon).

  • Hello Hibiscus Lime ("Hello, Milwaukee" infused with red berries tea, lime juice and lime zest)

New "Hello, Milwaukee" swag will be available in the merch corner at the brewery, 530 S. Second St., Milwaukee.

Lineup of Milwaukee musicians at Cactus Club

Cactus Club, 2496 S. Wentworth Ave.,  has a lineup of Milwaukee musicians for 414 Day, including Spider Creek, Social Caterpillar, DarylAnne, and Pulpa De Guayaba, plus a secret opening set.

Doors open at 7 p.m., with the show starting at 7:30. The cover is $14. Tickets can also be purchased at bit.ly/43pUtb0.

Company Brewing hosting Latin music night

Company Brewing, 735 E. Center St., will host a Latin music night for Milwaukee Day. Tlalok & Friends will kick things off at 10 p.m., followed by a featured performance from Los Mitoteros, a nine-piece Latin ensemble, at 11:15 p.m.

"They play a wide variety of latin genres including Merengue, Boleros, Bossa Nova, and Regional Mexican," the event's Facebook page said.

There's a $10 cover charge.

Free bag of Colectivo coffee at UW Credit Union's 10 Milwaukee-area branches (while supplies last)

Anyone who stops into one of UW Credit Union's 10 Milwaukee-area branches Friday can get a free, 12-ounce bag of fair trade, organic Colectivo coffee (while supplies last), according to a news release. This is the blend that's brewed daily for the credit union's visitors.

The bags were designed to coincide with the rollout of the credit union's new debit card design, which was inspired by the Milwaukee People's Flag, the news release said.

BONUS SUNDAY EVENT: Milwaukee Makers Market's 'Celebrate Milwaukee Day'

The Milwaukee Makers Market's season opener, "Celebrate Milwaukee Day," is Sunday at Discovery World and will feature more than 45 local makers. Products range from jewelry and candles to coffee and pastries, according to a news release.

Makers include B.B. Cakes, Cream City Patchworks, Big White Yeti Candle Co., Space Time Coffee, Boho Designs by Katya, and Blu Mountain Co., among others.

“We’re thrilled to welcome a variety of new, local and diverse Makers this season,” Ryan Laessig, the market's creator, said in the release. “We’re all about bringing new faces to the Market and helping smaller businesses gain more exposure as they start their entrepreneurial journey. I’m proud to give them a platform that cares.”

Lunch will be available for purchase from the Heirloom MKE food truck outside Discovery World, 500 N. Harbor Drive.
