A Milwaukee man was stabbed at the Franklin Walmart just before closing time Jan. 11.

Franklin Police Sgt. Jeremy Fadness confirmed another Milwaukee man was "immediately taken into custody on-scene" and without incident for the stabbing.

Jill Geiger said she was doing some shopping and heard a bunch of yelling around 9:50 p.m. at Walmart, 6701 S. 27th St. She said it started with two people but “more people got roped into it” and soon about a half dozen customers were shouting at each other in the deli/produce department.

When she heard someone say they have a knife and a gun, Geiger got out of the area.

“You don’t know what people are going to do,” she said.

Police arrived within a couple minutes, Geiger said.

Heading toward the exit, which took her past the department where the incident occurred, Geiger noticed a man on the ground with a tourniquet around his leg.

Franklin police released a statement Jan. 16 confirming a Milwaukee man was stabbed in the leg during the two-person altercation.

“No firearms were related to the incident,” Fadness said. He said the victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at an area hospital.

The suspect was taken to the Milwaukee County Jail to await potential charges by the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office.
