Two men have been charged with 15 felonies after authorities say they went on a robbery spree this summer that culminated in the fatal shooting of an armored vehicle’s security guard.

Prosecutors say Damien D. Huff, 29, and Colby P. Logan, 31, both of Milwaukee, robbed Walgreens pharmacies five times for prescription medication in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa in June and July.

That was followed by the July 13 robbery of an armored vehicle outside a northwest side bank that resulted in the shooting death of 55-year-old security guard Scott Bee of Waukesha.

Bee died 12 days later. He was a father of six and a grandfather of two, according to an obituary.

It was the third time an armored vehicle was robbed in Milwaukee in a six-month period and the second one to result in a fatal shooting.

In January, thieves robbed an armored vehicle outside North Shore Bank, 7927 W. Capitol Drive, the same location where Bee was killed. Police said Wednesday no arrests have been made.

In May, another armored car was robbed outside another North Shore Bank location, 5817 W. Forest Home Ave. During the incident, one guard was shot nonfatally and a second guard fatally shot the robbery suspect, a 42-year-old Kenosha man.

Both Huff and Logan were previously convicted of armed robbery and were barred from possessing guns, according to court records. They are both in custody, according to the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

The criminal complaint described five Walgreens robberies occurring in Milwaukee and Wauwatosa from June 21 to July 10 that followed the same pattern: a masked man with sunglasses and a handgun demanded Oxycodone pills and escaped with the help of a getaway driver, who used different vehicles. In one instance, the suspects made off with more than 4,000 pills.

Three days after the fifth Walgreens robbery, the armored truck was targeted.

According to witness statements and surveillance camera footage described in the criminal complaint:

On July 13, three security guards inside an armored vehicle pulled up near an ATM near the bank to refill it with cash. A black Mazda, which was connected to at least one of the Walgreens robberies, showed up nearby and a man exited from it.

That man then approached Bee while pointing a handgun at him. Bee was kneeling at the ATM when he heard someone say “give me the money,” he later told first responders. The man then shot Bee four times. He was able to return fire but did not hit the man.

It was later determined the man made off with nearly $70,000. Another $95,000 had been dropped as the suspect fled. It was recovered by police.

The Mazda seen prior to the incident and the suspect matched the descriptions of those involved in the Walgreens incidents.

The car was found abandoned July 23 and investigators learned the car was rented by the same person who rented another vehicle used in another Walgreens robbery. DNA and fingerprint evidence found in the car was matched with Logan and Huff.

An FBI Task Force that had already been investigating those incidents prior to the armored car robbery determined two cellphones were present during all six incidents. They were later found to belong to Logan and Huff.
