Milwaukee teen gets prison time for 2022 fatal shooting outside Green Bay Walgreens

GREEN BAY – A Milwaukee teen was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison for fatally shooting a man outside a Walgreens on the west side of Green Bay in 2022.

Jeremiah Robinson, now 17, was 15 when he shot a 31-year-old Green Bay man multiple times in the back outside the Walgreens at 1165 W. Mason St. on Feb. 18, 2022. The man was later pronounced dead at Aurora BayCare Medical Center.

Robinson pleaded no contest in May to a charge of second-degree reckless homicide, as well as charges of possession of THC and first-degree recklessly endangering safety.

Following his time in prison, Robinson will spend 10 years on extended supervision.

Brown County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Walsh also sentenced Robinson to five years in prison for the recklessly endangering safety charge and six months for the possession of THC charge, both to be served at the same time as his 15-year sentence.

According to a criminal complaint, police arrested Robinson after chasing him and another person from the scene after the shooting. They found a gun and bags of heroin and marijuana in Robinson's backpack.

In an interview with police, Robinson said he was a runaway from Milwaukee and had only been in Green Bay for a few days at the time of the shooting. He told police that prior to the shooting, he had gone into the Walgreens with a friend, when a man confronted his friend about money. Robinson said his friend and the man argued for about 30 seconds, then Robinson and his friend left the store, followed by the man, the complaint says.

As they walked outside the Walgreens, a van pulled up and a man with brass knuckles came out, Robinson told police. The man and Robinson's friend began fighting, and Robinson said he fired a gun at the man in self-defense.

Robinson initially told police he did not own the gun, but later in the interview said it was his and he purchased it about a month before the shooting, according to the complaint.

The man with Robinson at the time of the shooting was previously charged with possession with intent to manufacture, distribute or deliver heroin as party to a crime, but those charges were dismissed.
