Mineral City seeks input about new park complex

KEY ACTION: There will be a community meeting after Jan. 1 to discuss plans about the new park complex.
DISCUSSION: Council would like input from the community about the proposal. Plans are to install pickleball and basketball courts, a pavilion, restrooms, soccer field, playground equipment, a walking trail and barbecue grill.
OTHER ACTION:
Passed a resolution, as an emergency, authorizing OMEGA to serve as the lead for a technical assistance grant application for the Appalachian Community grant program in Tuscarawas County. The village will be applying for a revitalization effort.
Approved Ashley Curter as a new firefighter.
Heard the paint project for the Historical Society building will be delayed until spring. Masonry work needs completed on the building before it can be painted.

”Turkey In Disguise” will be the new program for the Mineral City Library. Children will color and disguise a turkey replica.
A Christmas Celebration will be held at 6 p.m. Dec. 11 at the library. Photos with Santa Claus and crafts will be held during the event. Also, there will be the lighting of the village Christmas tree. More details will follow.
A chili cook-off will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 28 at the fire station. There is a $20 entry fee. Judging will be held at 2 p.m. and a chili tasting at 3 p.m. that will include chili, cornbread, roll, beverage and dessert at a cost of $5.
