Minerva Library sets youth activities all summer

Minerva Public Library's summer reading program offers youngsters the chance to dive into reading and have some free fun.

The library's summer reading program, Oceans of Possibilities, requires those taking part to sign up at the library's Youth Desk. The program is open to youngsters of all ages.

Those who sign up will receive a reading log they can use to track either the number of books or the amount of time they read. At certain milestones, they can claim prizes. The program runs through July 29.

Multiple activities also are on the schedule this summer.

Maker Mondays, which run every Monday in June and July, is a crafting session. At 6, 6:30 or 7 p.m. June 20, participants can create a Socktapus (sock octopus). Those who attend at 6 or 6:45 p.m. June 27 can make an ocean terrariums. Register at the Youth Desk or call the library. For youth of all ages, but those ages 9 or younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Dungeons & Dragons Campaign, runs 1 to 4 p.m. Fridays from June 17 through July 29. Events are for those entering ninth through 12th grades. Those playing for the first time and experienced players are welcome. All supplies will be provided. To register or learn more, visit the Youth Desk or call the library.

Storytime, 11 a.m. Wednesdays through July 27. Families with little ones can attend on the library back lawn. Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket.

Elementary Explorers, 11 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays through July 27. Those ages 6 and older will enjoy a story and hands-on learning in the library's community room.

Cosplay Club, 2 p.m. June 23. Those entering sixth through 12th grades can sign up to guarantee a spot in the event in the library's community room. Swap tips and stories, share fandoms, show off costumes, and work on a project using library supplies. To register, visit the Youth Desk or call the library.

Animal Visit, 2 p.m. June 23. Stark Parks will bring live animals to the library for a program geared to families with children. Event will be on the library's back lawn. No registration required.

Fun Fridays, 1 to 4 p.m. through July 29. Families with children of all ages can drop into Youth Services for fun activities ranging from building with LEGOs to self-directed craft and STEM projects.
