Ministry of Health reports COVID-19 death toll as WHO downgrades pandemic

In total, according to MoH data, nearly 416,000 children contracted the coronavirus. As a result of the disease, 112,268 people died: 89 of them were children and 1,256 were healthcare workers.

The Ministry of Health emphasized that the end of the pandemic does not mean that the virus no longer poses a threat to people.

"It is only evidence that vaccination of the population worldwide has yielded results and has reduced the number of hospitalizations and deaths due to the disease," the ministry said.

WHO also announced the publication of the Global Strategic Preparedness, Readiness and Response Plan (SPRP) 2023-2025, which is designed to guide countries in the transition to long-term coronavirus treatment.
