Mink Seen Dragging Snake Across Road in Florida Everglades

A mink in the Florida Everglades decided to take its dinner to go, carrying a snake across the road to feast upon later.

Footage captured by Hannah Cardenas earlier this month shows the mink crossing the road with the serpent in its mouth.

Cardenas told Storyful she and her mom were going for a hike at the Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve when she spotted the critter carrying the snake, which she estimates was about “4 to 4.5 feet long”.

According to a Facebook post by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), minks can eat small mammals, fish, birds, and snakes that are more than twice their body length.

“They are a state threatened species and sightings are rare due to their elusive nature,” the FWC said in the post. Credit: Hannah Cardenas via Storyful
