Minnesota 2022 elections: House District 34A candidates

House District 34A

Danny Nadeau

  • Age: 57

  • Party: R

  • City:Rogers

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? Danny Nadeau has decades of experience building strong relationships and networks in state, county and local government, working on the most challenging issues facing Minnesota families and businesses. He’s a lifelong Minnesotan, a critical problem solver, and has a proven track-record of focusing himself and others to find common sense solutions.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? All of us want great jobs, safe neighborhoods, good schools, a strong economy, and the opportunity to be our very best! I will focus intensively on those things, where everyone benefits, not just a few. I will fight against the ideologies that keep us from coming together and surround myself with people who are committed to success.

  • Politics has become very divisive in recent years, if elected, what would you do to improve the tone? I believe good leaders are respectful and listen. They’re experienced, patient and build lasting relationships. They engage, guide and don’t stop until they find balance to make the large-scale decisions that shape their world. They’re disciplined, focused and welcome accountability. I’ll do my best to be that kind of leader.

Brian Raines

  • Age: 48

  • Party: DFL

  • City: Rogers

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? As a Navy Veteran, a third-generation union member, and a single dad to two boys, I understand firsthand the issues facing Minnesotans every day. I’ve spent my life and my career defending and serving working families. I am ready to bring that experience and passion to the State Capitol to serve my community and champion our shared values.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? 1) Defending the rights and freedoms of Minnesotans–including a woman’s right to choose. 2) Addressing the impacts of inflation and the increasing unaffordability of life for working families. 3) Keeping our communities safe through investments in our public safety. 4) Ensuring our children have access to world-class cradle-to-career education options.

  • Politics has become very divisive in recent years, if elected, what would you do to improve the tone? I’m focused on moving MN forward, not to the left or the right. That means focusing on values and challenges like keeping our families safe and healthy, being able to pay our bills, and building a better future for our kids. If we turn our attention to delivering results rather than finger-pointing, we can build back trust and bipartisanship.
