Minnesota elections 2022: Senate District 41 candidates

SENATE DISTRICT 41

Judy Seeberger

  • Age: 53

  • Party: DFL

  • City: Afton

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? I’ve been a leader in my community in ways big and small for years. As a paramedic and on the fire department, I serve on the front lines of public safety and healthcare and work shoulder to shoulder with local police. As a classroom teacher, I’ve seen the best in our kids. And as a small business owner, I know the impact our economy has on us all.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? I will prioritize safe communities and thriving neighborhoods through funding local police and with increased crime prevention. I will also fight for an economy that works for Minnesotans by eliminating the tax on social security and bringing down costs. And I will always protect women’s right to choose.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? As a paramedic, it doesn’t matter to me who my patient is-they need me to partner with other first responders to make sure they get the help they need. That perspective, along with my experience as a civil mediator, means bringing people together is who I am. Minnesotans need leaders with that value at heart, not more harsh rhetoric and division.

Tom Dippel

  • Age: 41

  • Party: R

  • City: Cottage Grove

  • What qualifies you to hold this position? As a lifelong resident of Cottage Grove and a graduate of Park High School, I know and love our community. I stepped up to run because I saw that fellow parents, business-owners, and neighbors were struggling to make ends meet. Like a business, lawmaking requires tough but decisive actions. I will be a fierce advocate for the needs of our district.

  • What would your top priorities be if elected? Support Police and Peace Officers and their ability to safely enforce the law. Ease the tax burden on Minnesota families by returning the budget surplus, cutting income taxes, and eliminating the tax on social security. Fight for parental transparency in education and support our teachers.

  • What do you think is the primary role of government? As a Senator, I won’t be beholden to party bosses that demand partisan results. As a businessman, I mark progress by the results of my hard work — not grandstanding or showmanship. I will carry this attitude to St. Paul and encourage my fellow legislators to do the same.
