Minnesota Ice Maze relocating from Stillwater to Viking Lakes in Eagan

The Viking Lakes development in Eagan will be this year’s spot for the lighted ice maze attraction that is Minnesota Ice Maze.

For the past two years, the ice maze has been located in Stillwater, through a partnership with Zephyr Theater. In 2021, 31,000 people visited the attraction.

Zephyr Theater announced last week that the Ice Maze would not return to Stillwater. The theater, which opened in 2018, has been in jeopardy since October, when the company halted productions and laid off staff.

With the new location at Viking Lakes the ice maze will be the largest to date, according to a press release from the Vikings. The half-mile long maze will have eight-foot-high perimeter walls constructed with over one million pounds of ice.

“We are thrilled to create this unforgettable experience for families across the metro with Viking Lakes,” said Minnesota Ice Founder and CEO Robbie Harrell, in a statement.

The maze will have ice thrones, weekend theme nights, scavenger hunts, fire pits and inflatables. The grounds will feature an ice bar as well as hot chocolate and s’mores.

The event will be open daily from Jan. 6 through Feb. 19. Tickets are available to purchase at minnesotaicemaze.com for $24.99.
