Minnesota man arrested in 'sextortion scheme,' involving Delhi Township teenager

A man from St. Paul, Minnesota is facing charges in federal court involving an alleged online "sextortion scheme," that Involved more than 500 girls from around the country, including a teenager from Delhi Township.

Yue Vang, 31, is facing charges in U.S. District Court involving two counts of production of child pornography and one count each of possession of child pornography and interstate communications with intent to extort.

According to police, Yang preyed on his victims by creating phony social media accounts and soliciting teenaged girls to send him nude photos. His online presence indicated that he was a girl.

He used various social media apps, including Skype, Instagram, Kik and Snapchat, to lure girls from late 2015 through September 2020 according to law enforcement.

When he received the photos, Vang, as part of his "sextortion scheme," would then threaten his victims with releasing the photos to their friends and family if they did not send him more explicit photos.

One of his alleged victims is from 2016 and is from Delhi Township. Delhi Township police contacted the FBI and other national agencies tasked with investigating internet sex crimes after she stepped forward to report the crime.

The investigation led law enforcement to discover an IP address allegedly belonging to Vang, who is now facing a minimum of 15 years in prison.

Delhi police were notified on May 25 that Vang had been arrested in connection with the case
