AUSTIN, TX — Halloween is barely past, and Thanksgiving is yet to come. But it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Austin with the arrival of the Miracle on 5th Street pop-up bar set for this month.
The spectacle will be brought by the pop-up professionals and cocktail craftsman behind The Roosevelt Room and The Eleanor, along with the original Miracle workers from the New York City cocktail bar, Mace, and the nation’s leading craft bar tool company, Cocktail Kingdom.
Organizers invite residents to "Jingle all the way over to Miracle on 5th Street" for a holiday favorite that will adhere to physical distancing this year to mitigate spread of the coronavirus. "Santa’s got a safely distanced holiday haven planned for all elves looking to get boozy and bright this year," said in a prepared statement.
Miracle on 5th Street will don a different, but still as equally decadent look as a seated dine-in service in a socially-distanced, safe, and sanitary venue, organizers wrote. Walk-ins are welcome but reservations are strongly encouraged and the maximum party size is 10 people. For parties with more than 10 people and longer than two hours, an event form must be filled out through the Miracle on 5th Street website.
Joann Spiegel, the mastermind behind the brand’s cocktail repertoire, has created a roster of delightful, holiday-inspired libations with a few fan favorites from years past making a reappearance, organizers described. Guests can expect unique and unusual cocktails that play on classic holiday flavors in playful mugs and glassware.
New this year are the Jolly Koala with Gin, Vermouth and Pine-Cardamom-Sage Cordial; the On Dasher, a concoction of Bourbon, Mezcal, Sweet Vermouth, Spiced Hibiscus, Burlesque Bitters, and Lemon; and the Fruitcake Flip, made of Brandy, Jamaican Overproof Rum, Amaretto, Fruitcake, Cherry Bitters, and a Whole Egg.
The full cocktail menu is available at the main downstairs bar and the mezzanine bar (open for seating on weekends only). Notably, organizers added, all Miracle cocktails this year can be ordered to go. To that end, Miracle To-Go Cocktails are available for pick-up at the Ski Lodge located next to the entrance each day starting at 4 p.m. Guests can place their orders using the form on the Miracle on 5th Street To-Go website.
Organizers added: "Don’t forget that it’s the season of giving!" To butress that giving spirit, a portion of all To-Go cocktail sales will benefit the Austin Children’s Shelter (Safe Alliance) and Austin Pets Alive. All holiday themed Cocktail Kingdom® custom glassware is available for purchase at the Shot Ski Lodge. Additionally, a portion of the Santa Pants, Christmas Carol Barrel and Santa Heads signature glassware sales will go to benefit the JBF Open for Good campaign to help independent restaurants survive this crisis, rebuild better, and thrive for the long term.
Originally conceived in 2014 by Mace owner Greg Boehm, the Christmas pop-up bar concept, Miracle, became a smash hit and has now expanded to 90 locations worldwide. 2020 welcomes the third year of Miracle’s sister bar, Sippin’ Santa, a tiki-Christmas pop-up presented by Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, hosted at Nickel City.
