The Miracle League of Wichita Falls is opening their spring season this Saturday.

According to a release from the YMCA of Wichita falls, the Miracle League is a baseball league dedicated to providing children with cognitive and physical disabilities an opportunity to participate in "America’s favorite pastime."

The season will begin with a special celebration at 9 a.m. April 1.

During the season, a special surface is placed on the field allowing players in wheelchairs or walkers to participate. Additionally, each child is paired with a buddy who helps them any way they need.

“We’re thrilled to be able to provide this opportunity to children in our community. The Miracle League removes barriers that can keep kids with cognitive and physical disabilities from participating in sports and gives them a chance to have fun, make friends and be active,” said a YMCA representative.
