Miramar man commits murders in Miami-Dade, Broward on same day, deputies say

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies say a Miramar man killed two people on the same day, one in Broward County and the other in Miami-Dade County.

During the afternoon of June 22, Broward deputies were called to a shooting at 5831 SW 27th St., the sheriff’s office said. Deputies found Roy Gissendanner, 63, lying in the grass and suffering from gunshots in his head and torso.

Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue tried to save him, but he died soon after.

Investigators learned that Gissendanner’s 2003 gold Ford Taurus was stolen after the shooting. Surveillance video led detectives to believe Ian Jackson, 26, was the suspect, deputies said. The video showed Jackson shooting Gissendanner after he gets out of his car.

Meanwhile in Miami Gardens, police were investigating a homicide at a gas station on the 18300 block of North Miami Avenue. Surveillance video showed Jackson arrive at the gas station in Gissendanner’s car and shooting O’Neil William with a gun.

William was able to drive away, but he soon after struck a wall.

BSO filed an arrest warrant for Jackson and charged him with first-degree murder with a firearm. Miami Gardens police charged him with second-degree murder.

On Wednesday, BSO, Miami Gardens police and the United States Marshal’s Service found Jackson in Broward County and arrested him. He was taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

As of Friday, Jackson remained in jail with no bond.

A service for Gissendanner will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the New Macedonia Baptist Church located at 2201 S.W. 48th Ave. in West Park.
