Misfits, Bruce Springsteen, Smithereens vying for greatest song by Jersey artist in poll

What's the greatest song ever sung by a Jersey artist?

Right now, it's the horror-punk classic “Last Caress” by the Misfits of Lodi, according to an ongoing poll by the USA Today Network New Jersey.

“Last Caress” has more than 3,400 votes as of the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 19. “Born to Run” by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band is second at just over 660 votes and “Blood and Roses” by the Smithereens is third at just over 440 votes.

“Deep in the Heart of Jersey” by Uncle Floyd and “My Way” by Frank Sinatra round out the Top 5 as of Tuesday morning.

The criteria is this: The song must be sung by someone who grew up in New Jersey. Not someone born here and then moved away as a child, or someone who moved here after they became an established artist.
