A truck hauling raw chicken parts spilled its load Monday morning on the Hugh Thomas Bridge near University Boulevard, according to the Tuscaloosa Police Department.

The spillage has led to the closure of the bridge's inside and middle lanes on Lurleen Wallace Boulevard.

This is the second time a truck has spilled chicken parts in almost the same location. In April, the spill covered all three lanes and caused some vehicles to slide across the road.

A TPD Facebook post says, "Y’all. It’s happened again. A truck hauling chicken parts lost it’s load coming off the Hugh Thomas bridge at University Boulevard.

"The good news is that the driver stopped this time! Bad news is that the inside and middle lanes are blocked. And it doesn’t smell great. Our thoughts are with the ALDOT workers handling cleanup.

"Try using one of the other bridges if you plan to drive south from the Northport side anytime soon. We’ll update once the road is cleared."

At around 2:30 p.m., the Alabama Department of Transportation said on social media that all lanes were open.
