Miss Maple City Nov. 5
Oct. 23—NORWALK — Twelve young women will compete for the title of Miss Maple City 2023 on Saturday, Nov. 5.
The women, along with seven teenage girls vying to be crowned Miss Maple City's Outstanding Teen 2023, will take part in the pageant at 7 p.m. at The Ernsthausen Performing Arts Center.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Ticket price is $10.
There will be a "Meet and Greet" for Miss Maple City 2022/ Miss Ohio 2023 Betta Nies as she will compete for the title of Miss America in December at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut.
It will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to stop by and wish her well at Miss America.
The pageant is sponsored by Maple City Ice Co. of Norwalk.
Co-directors are Dolly Ruffing and Wil Vickery.
Entertainment will be provided by Miss Maple City 2022 and Miss Ohio 2023 Betta Nies and Miss Maple City Outstanding Teen 2022 Baylee Shoemaker.
Judges will be Dave Nethers, of Broadview Heights, Ashleigh Lemon, of Columbus, Doug King, of Midland, Mich., James Grimes, of Akron, and Kelly Carpenter, of Zanesville.
Judges chair is Karen David of Sandusky and auditors will be Richard Russell, of Bellevue, and Tom Dunlap, of Norwalk.
Emcee wil be Miss Maple City 2015 and Miss Ohio 2015 Sarah Hider.
The Miss contestants are:
Autumn Abdullah, Warren, Ohio. She is the daughter of Christine Farnsworth and Robbie Carpenter. She attends Kent State Trumbull and Talent is Baton Twirling.
Caitlin Cramer, Celina, Ohio, She is the daughter of Leah and Curt Cramer and Talent is Singing.
Marina Denunzio, Shaker Heights Ohio. She is the daughter of Mary and Bob Denunzio. She attends Ohio State University and Talent is Singing.
Julia DePenti, Parma, Ohio. She is the daughter of Ann Marie and Christopher DePenti. She attends Cleveland State University and Talent is Jazz Dance.
Kalli Gregory, Castalia. She is the daughter of Julie Gregory and the late Dwight Gregory. She attends Bowling Green State University and Talent is Contemporary Dance.
Olivia Kentner, Wapakoneta, Ohio. She is the daughter of Amy and Matthew Kentner. She attends University of Cincinnati and Talent is Singing
Maleah Lee, Celina, Ohio. She is the daughter of Diana Lee. She attends Wright State University and Talent is Dance.
Shelby Leigh, Oak Harbor. She is the daughter of Kim and Charles Gaeth. She attends Bowling Green State University and Talent is Baton.
Emma Rose Lewis, Cleveland. Sbe is the daughter of Julie and David Lewis. She attends Kent State University and Talent is Singing.
Rachel Ralston, Uhrichsville, Ohio. She is the daughter of Mary Jo and John Ralston. She attends Kent State University and Talent is Singing.
MIka Smith, Parma. She is the daughter of Rebecca King. She attends Cuyahoga Community College and Talent is Monologue
Kalynn Welch, Sandusky. She is the daughter of Heather and John Welch. She attends Muskingum University and Talent is Singing.

Cassandra Mattson, Columbus. She is the daughter of Jennifer and Rian Mattson. She attends Westland High School and Talent is Irish Dance.
Hannah Reiman, Shelby. She is the daughter of Ashley McPherson and Travis Reiman . She attends Shelby High School and Talent is Poetry.
Raven Sharrock, Bucyrus. She is the daughter of Aaron Sharrock. She attends Colonel Crawford High School and Talent is Singing.
Arrianna Shinn, Coldwater, Ohio. She is the daughter of Nancy Shinn. She attends Coldwater High School and Talent is Lyrical Dance.
Paige Wilson, New London. She is the daughter of Melissa and Josh Wilson. She attends New London High School and Talent is Lyrical Dance.
Miss Maple City 2023 will receive a $1,000 scholarship, sash donated by Kristen Haas, crown donated by Kim and Shaun Kanary, floral bouquet from Betschman's Flowers on Main, and the right to represent Norwalk at Miss Ohio Scholarship Program in Mansfield in June.
Miss Maple City Outstanding Teen 2023 will receive a $200 scholarship, sash, crown donated by Jane, Dave and Sarah Hider, floral bouquet from Betschman's Flowers on Main, and the right to represent Norwalk at the Miss Ohio Outstanding Teen Program in Mansfield in June.
