Miss Taunton 2024 is crowned. Who is she?
TAUNTON — Miss Taunton 2024 was crowned Sunday night, and the winner is ... Abby Riggs.
The 69th annual Miss Taunton Scholarship Program competition was held Sunday, Nov. 5, in the Benjamin A. Friedman Middle School auditorium.
The seven contestants were judged based on a personal interview, an on-stage question, artistic talent, fitness and health, and poise and grace in an evening gown.
Miss Taunton 2023 Lily Jeswald was on hand to crown the new Miss Taunton.
The Miss Taunton Scholarship Program is an official preliminary to the Miss Massachusetts and Miss America programs.
Who is the new Miss Taunton?
Riggs, 24, is from Plainville and is a graduate student at Boston College with a major in education. She was the recipient of a $3,500 scholarship for being crowned Miss Taunton. She also won the On-Stage Interview Award.
Her social impact initiative is The Learning Project and her talent is tap dancing.
Riggs will compete for the title of Miss Massachusetts in June 2024.

Who was the first runner-up?
Violet Joy Hansen was first runner-up and winner of a $600 scholarship. The 23-year-old is from Boston and is a graduate student at Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Her talent is opera.

Who was the second runner-up?
Sophia Thomas was second runner-up and winner of a $500 scholarship as well as the People’s Choice Award. The 20-year-old Taunton resident is a communications major at Stonehill College and her talent is HERstory.
Who else won awards?
Shayla Rose and Samantha Walkden tied for the Most Talented Non-Finalist Award.
Rose, 26, is from Easton and is a business major at Mount Wachusett Community College. Her talent is poetry.
Walkden, 19, is from Lakeville and is a liberal arts and education major at Bristol Community College. Her talent is vocal.
Non-finalists in both Miss and Teen received a $150 award.
