As head coach Kyra Elzy said on media day — we’ve officially turned the page to a new chapter of Kentucky women’s basketball.

Following a brief surge reminiscent of its 2022 Southeastern Conference championship run, the Wildcats fell 80-71 in the quarterfinals of the 2023 SEC Tournament to rival Tennessee. Kentucky finished last season — Elzy’s third at the helm — with an overall record of 12-19 (2-14 SEC) and a tie with Texas A&M for last place in the conference. And, though a new season is currently on the mind, March was a time of reflection for the program.

As the NCAA Tournament played out, and several SEC foes demonstrated their strength on the sport’s biggest stage, Elzy held difficult conversations with players regarding their roles and goals both on and off the court.

The result? Plenty of exits, a handful of new faces and a renewed determination to learn from past mistakes. Following a closed scrimmage against Ohio State on Oct. 28, the Wildcats will suit up for a Nov. 1 exhibition against Kentucky State University ahead of the official first tip of the 2023-24 season on Nov. 7 versus East Tennessee State.

But before then, here’s what you might have missed during the Wildcats’ offseason.
