Missing 85-year-old found dead in woods, OPD says

Luis Alvarado, 85, had been missing for a week when officers discovered his body in a wooded area behind 3101 W. Princeton St. Saturday evening, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Alvarado’s body was discovered behind a Walmart Supercenter, just over a mile from his apartment, after officers responded to a call, OPD said early Sunday on X, formerly Twitter.

“Condolences to Mr. Alvarado’s family,” OPD said in their statement.

OPD does not expect foul play at this time but the investigation is still ongoing, according to the statement.

Alvarado was reported missing on July 31 after his family grew concerned after not hearing from him, OPD previously said on X.

He was last seen leaving his apartment in the area of 1700 Mercy Dr. on July 30 wearing a yellow shirt and slacks and carrying a duffle bag, their statement read.

Alvarado was believed to be endangered and in need of medication at the time he went missing, according to OPD.
