Missing Massachusetts man identified as victim found in burning car in Hartford, homicide investigation underway

Zach Murdock, Hartford Courant

The remains of a person found in a burning car Saturday night in Hartford have been identified as a Massachusetts man reported missing late last week.

Francisco Ramon, 28, was last seen the night of Christmas Eve in Chicopee, Massachusetts, where he lived, until Hartford emergency personnel were called to a burning car at about 8:40 p.m. Saturday on Shultas Place, officials said Monday.

Firefighters extinguishing the car discovered a body inside and alerted police, who immediately established a crime scene around the vehicle and took over the investigation, police have said.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the remains Monday as that of Ramon.

Hartford police have opened a homicide investigation and detectives are working with Chicopee and Massachusetts State Police. No other details were immediately available Monday.

Anyone with any information regarding the case is asked to call the police tip line at 860-722-8477.
