Mississippi's Congressional delegates were quick to react on Twitter following Thursday's announcement that former President Donald J. Trump had been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury investigating a hush money payment to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

Below is a look at their Twitter responses.

U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, Republican

"The indictment of President Trump resulted from a politically motivated prosecution by a NY district attorney whose campaign was funded by George Soros. This is about interfering in a presidential election; it has nothing to do with justice. Democrats have crossed the line."

— Cindy Hyde-Smith

U.S. Sen. Roger Wicker, Republican

"It is a travesty for our justice system, and I think this Manhattan prosecutor will see his case backfire."

— Roger Wicker

U.S. Rep. Dist. 1 Trent Kelly, Republican

“This effort to prosecute former President Donald Trump is a political ploy-a shameful abuse of power.”

— Trent Kelly

U.S. Rep. Dist. 2 Bennie Thompson, Democrat

“No one is above the law!

“We must put elected officials in office with the highest integrity. Donald Trump is the first president in U.S. history to be indicted. A presidential indictment is a stain on our democracy. Trump must be held accountable. No one is above the law!”

— Bennie Thompson

U.S. Rep. Dist. 3 Michael Guest, Republican

“As a former District Attorney, I find the indictment of former President Trump unprecedented and concerning.

“We see questions continue to grow around theimpartiality of Manhattan Attorney, the timing of the indictment, and the impact this may have on our election process.

“All Americans should be concerned about the long term effects that this action will have on our political and judicial system.”

— Michael Guest

U.S. Rep. Dist. 4 Mike Ezell, Republican

"The Manhattan DA’s choice to prosecute President Trump seems to be nothing more than partisan politics. I’m deeply concerned about the implications of this decision on our justice system and our nation’s electoral process."

— Mike Ezell
