As news spread Tuesday of a Politico report of a leaked U.S. Supreme Court draft opinion in the Dobbs vs. Jackson Women’s Health that would overturn Roe vs. Wade, many Mississippi politicians shared their thoughts on the topic via Twitter.
Below are some of their Tweets.
Mississippi Attorney General Lynn Fitch
Earlier tonight Politico claimed to have an initial draft of the Dobbs decision. The contents of the article & veracity of linked opinion can't be verified. AG Fitch made this statement: “We will let the Supreme Court speak for itself and wait for the Court’s official opinion.”

Today, we start a new chapter in American history, leaving behind the false premise that abortion levels the playing field for women. We can empower women AND promote life. This is our message to the Justices and the world that is watching. #EmpowerWomenPromoteLife pic.twitter.com/583rVCCaJF

U.S. Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith
Life is a fundamental right that was attacked under Roe v. Wade for half a century.
If the Dobbs case is indeed overturned, as it should be, the unborn - at least in states like Mississippi - will have that right restored.— Cindy Hyde-Smith (@cindyhydesmith) May 3, 2022
Mississippi Gov. Tate Reeves
Everyone is rightly outraged over the alleged leak in the MS abortion case.
Let’s think bigger. For decades, America has been uniquely radical in the West. Our abortion laws look like China & N. Korea.
Please pray for wisdom & courage for SCOTUS. Countless lives can be saved!— Tate Reeves (@tatereeves) May 3, 2022
Mississippi Speaker of the House Philip Gunn
MS House Republicans led to protect the unborn with the passage of HB1510, now on review in Dobbs. Their efforts put us in a position to protect unborn lives. While I condemn the leak, I pray the Supreme Court will stand up for the sanctity of life and overturn Roe.
