Mississippi River has no water to offer to the West

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, but it would seem to me that a newspaper should only publish opinion pieces based on facts. Recently, The Desert Sun published a column advocating diversion of the Mississippi River into pipes and canals to replenish the Colorado River.

The Mississippi is at record low water. Barges are unable to move. Salt water is moving upstream towards New Orleans. Bayous are disappearing into the gulf.

If anyone in the desert thinks the people of Louisiana and Mississippi are going to give up one drop of water to grow grass in Palm Springs, alfalfa in El Centro or suburbs in Phoenix, they have another thing coming.
