Mississippi State baseball is heating up as SEC play begins. The Bulldogs have won seven straight after a shaky first 11 games, giving MSU momentum heading into a weekend series at Kentucky.
Mississippi State's streak started in the finale of the Frisco College Baseball Classic on March 5. After dropping the first two games of the weekend against Ohio State and Oklahoma, MSU salvaged a win against Cal. Since then, MSU beat Valparaiso, swept Lipscomb and picked up two midweek wins against Nicholls and Louisiana.
The difference has been pitching with Mississippi State allowing only three runs per game during the streak. However, a hot opponent awaits in Lexington, Kentucky.
The Wildcats have won their past 11, capped by a 12-2 win against Indiana on Tuesday. UK also got off to a shaky start with a season-opening loss at Elon but has dropped only one game since.
The programs last met in 2021 when Mississippi State swept the series in Starkville.
