Chris Jans' first season as Mississippi State basketball coach has featured plenty of goals checked off.
The Bulldogs took home the Fort Myers Tipoff title in November with wins against No. 14 Marquette and Utah. MSU took down Ole Miss in the matchup of rivals on Jan. 7. Mississippi State also secured a win in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on Saturday with an overtime victory against a top-15 TCU team.
However, Jans has yet to win a road SEC game. He'll look to change that Tuesday (5:30 p.m., SEC Network) against South Carolina (8-13, 1-7 SEC).
It has been a tough first season for Lamont Paris at the helm for the Gamecocks. Despite noteworthy wins against Clemson and Kentucky, South Carolina is far from the NCAA Tournament picture.
In hopes of making a late surge toward their March Madness aspirations, the Bulldogs (13-8, 1-7) will look to fend off a Quadrant 4 loss against the Gamecocks.
