STARKVILLE — While fans had their focus on the Egg Bowl last week, excitement for Mississippi State basketball slowly built as football season wound down.
The Bulldogs spent their Thanksgiving week in Fort Myers, Florida, taking part in the Fort Myers Tip-off. They took down Marquette (5-2) and Utah (5-2) for their first noteworthy wins of the season, giving fans some reassurance that wins against mid-majors weren't the peak in the nonconference slate.
Mississippi State (6-0) now returns home looking to keep its NCAA Tournament résumé blemish-free.
MSU welcomes Omaha (3-4) to Humphrey Coliseum on Monday (6:30 p.m., SEC Network+). The Mavericks are coming off back-to-back wins in the Emerald Coast Classic.

Mississippi State is the fourth Power Five opponent for Omaha this season. Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska have cruised by the Mavericks thus far.
The Bulldogs are looking to enter finals week with a pair of easy wins this week. MSU hosts Mississippi Valley State on Saturday (1 p.m., SEC Network+). MSU then doesn't play until its trip to Minnesota on Dec. 11.
