Mississippi State basketball vs No. 12 Kentucky: Live updates, score

LEXINGTON, Ky. — For the second time this season, Mississippi State men's basketball will face off against a ranked foe.

The first meeting went the Bulldogs' way, downing then-No. 25 Alabama. Mississippi State (13-5, 4-2 SEC) meets No. 12 Kentucky in Lexington on Tuesday (8 p.m. CT, ESPN) at Rupp Arena.

The Wildcats (15-4, 5-2) are coming off a nine-point loss to No. 2 Auburn on Saturday, a game in which Kentucky held a narrow second-half advantage but faded down the stretch to the Tigers. Forward Oscar Tshiebwe scored 16 points and pulled in 14 rebounds.

Guarding Tshiebwe may pose the largest challenge to Mississippi State, which is playing without forward Tolu Smith, who is considered week-to-week after suffering a partially dislocated knee against Ole Miss on Saturday. That injury was the blemish on an otherwise strong performance against the Rebels.

Guard Iverson Molinar is coming off a 20-point performance, and he'll be the focal point of the offense once more. Molinar passed 1,000 points in his Mississippi State career Saturday.
