Mississippi State commitment Josh Hubbard named Mississippi Gatorade Basketball Player of the Year

Mississippi State commitment Josh Hubbard was selected as the 2022-23 Gatorade Mississippi Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Wednesday. Hubbard, the No. 1 prospect in the state, is the all-time leading scorer in Mississippi high school basketball history.

Hubbard, a former Ole Miss signee, committed to the Bulldogs on Monday after being released from his NLI following the firing of former Rebels coach Kermit Davis. He picked the Rebels over the Bulldogs, Southern Cal, Xavier and Seton Hall in September.

The four-star prospect is the No. 15 point guard nationally and the No. 89 overall prospect, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Hubbard is the only four-star in coach Chris Jans upcoming recruiting class.
