Mississippi State football freshman receiver Kaydin Pope enters transfer portal

STARKVILLE — Mississippi State football redshirt freshman receiver Kaydin Pope has entered the transfer portal, he announced via social media Thursday. Pope is a native of Savannah, Tennessee, who was a three-star prospect out of Hardin County High School, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Pope appeared in just one game as a freshman last season, catching three passes for 23 yards in a win against East Tennessee State.

He is the fifth Bulldog to enter the portal since the conclusion of spring practice and the second receiver to do so since offensive coordinator Kevin Barbay was hired in January.

Barbay is implementing a more balanced attacked compared to the Air Raid offense under former coach Mike Leach. After Leach's death on Dec. 12, defensive coordinator Zach Arnett was promoted to head coach. He retained the offensive staff through MSU's ReliaQuest Bowl win, but Arnett overhauled that side of the ball afterward.

Mississippi State opens its regular season on Sept. 2 at home against Southeastern Louisiana.
