Mississippi State football and coach Mike Leach received a commitment Friday from Hattiesburg High School linebacker Tabias Hinton.

Hinton is listed at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds. The 247Sports Composite tabs him as a three-star prospect, and the No. 6 recruit in Mississippi in the Class of 2023.

Hinton selected the Bulldogs from a list of offers that also included Michigan, West Virginia, Colorado and Memphis.

Hinton posted 18.5 sacks during his sophomore season. As a junior, Hinton had fewer opportunities to rush the passer, but still came away with seven sacks.

The Tigers will move Hinton to outside linebacker position this fall as they transition from a 4-3 defense to a three-man front.
