MEMPHIS — Mississippi State football remembers its last visit to the Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium vividly. It didn't end the way those players had envisioned, with a loss to Memphis that featured a punt return touchdown that shouldn't have counted.

So when the Bulldogs (7-5) arrive for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl on Tuesday (5:45 p.m., ESPN) to face Texas Tech (6-6), it will be with that defeat in the back of their minds — and a conviction to leave the stadium with a different feeling.

"We kind of have a bitter taste in our mouth from earlier," linebacker Jett Johnson said. "We want to right that ship and go out of that stadium feeling good this time."
