OXFORD — For a moment Thursday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium, one of college football's most bitter rivalries was cast aside.

Knox Kiffin, son of Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin, shared an embrace with Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers on the field after MSU's 24-22 Egg Bowl victory.

In his left hand, Knox held Rogers' towel, which he had asked for earlier in the week via Instagram message.

"I got you bro," Rogers wrote to Knox this week.

He delivered.

Lane Kiffin expressed his appreciation on Friday morning via Twitter.

"Classy," Kiffin wrote, tagging Rogers. "Good luck in the future."

Rogers earned his first Egg Bowl victory in three attempts on Thursday night, ending Kiffin's perfect run in the rivalry game.

The Mississippi State quarterback went 27-for-39 through the air for 239 with two touchdowns, one interception and a pair of lost fumbles. Statistically, it might have been the worst Egg Bowl performance of his career. But what matters is the win, and Rogers and the Bulldogs got it.
