Mississippi State's Jack Abraham receives medical hardship waiver for seventh season, enters transfer portal
STARKVILLE — Mississippi State quarterback Jack Abraham received a medical hardship waiver from the NCAA and will be eligible for a seventh season of college football, a source told the Clarion Ledger. Abraham has also entered the transfer portal.
The source requested anonymity because no official announcement has been made by the university.
Abraham will be immediately eligible at his next destination. The Oxford native didn't play this season for the Bulldogs as he recovered from post-concussion syndrome. Abraham entered the portal but doesn't see guaranteed playing time as the No. 1 priority for his final season, the source said.

Before walking onto Mississippi State, Abraham began his college career at Louisiana Tech, where he redshirted. From there, Abraham transferred to Northwest Mississippi Community College, throwing for 2,949 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2017.
The 6-foot passer then transferred to Southern Miss, and he excelled with the Golden Eagles, throwing for 3,496 yards in 2019 and throwing 41 touchdowns across three seasons. But injuries limited his time on the field in 2020 before he joined the Bulldogs.
He was expected to compete this offseason for the starting role alongside Will Rogers, but an injury during summer practice shelved those plans. Without being able to play a snap, the NCAA granted his medical redshirt, opening the option of finishing his career elsewhere.
