Mississippi storm victims need your help. Here's what you can do

A storm system that passed through Mississippi Friday night left 25 dead in the state and many more in need.

Homes and businesses were destroyed in several counties and residents were left without basics such as shelter, running water, and power.

Donations of everyday basics, non-perishable food, water, etc. are being accepted at a number of locations.

Some of the immediate needs include:

  • Bottled water

  • Canned goods

  • Paper products

  • Pet food

  • Diapers and wipes

  • Manual can openers

  • Baby formula

  • Personal hygiene items

  • Pet carriers

  • Laundry detergent

  • Cleaning supplies

Where to take donations for storm victims

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is partnering with theMississippi Emergency Management Agency and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce to accept donations of bottled water, canned goods, and paper products for the victims of the storms that struck Mississippi on March 24.

Donations can be dropped off at the Armory at the Mississippi State Fairgrounds in Jackson

  • Monday, March 27, 2023, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

  • Tuesday, March 28, 2023 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Donations can be dropped off at Crossway Church: 1825 US 61 South, Vicksburg

  • Monday, March 27th from 8 a.m. – 10 a.m.

The National Guard Armory/Civic Center is open and accepting donations at 19719 US 61, Rolling Fork.

The City of Gluckstadt is also accepting donations at City Hall as well as Sullivan's Marketplace and Seasons Gluckstadt locations.

The City of Hattiesburg is also accepting donations at any Hattiesburg fire station and at the EOC, 4080 US 11, Hattiesburg.

The Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi is accepting donations Sunday March 26, from 1-5 p.m. in Hernando at Hernando Square near 315 Losher Street.

The City of Oxford is accepting donations at Fire Station One on McElroy Drive.
