Mississippi voters: Here's how and when to register to vote in the 2024 elections
As 2024 approaches, it's time to start thinking about the upcoming election season and how you can participate.
Make note of some important dates and deadlines and make your voice heard in the 2024 presidential elections.
Primaries
The presidential primaries decide the Democratic and Republican candidates for the November elections.
Mail-in absentee votes: Must be sent in by Tuesday, March 12, 2024
Absentee voting (in person): Saturday, March 2 to March 9, 2024
Deadline to register to vote: Monday, Feb. 12, 2024
Election day: Tuesday, March 12, 2024
Primary runoffs: Tuesday, April 2, 2024
General election day
The big day is held on the second Tuesday of November. Ballots on this day will include the U.S. president. It will include other major positions including senator, supreme court justices as well as levee and election commissioners down to school board races.

Deadline to register: Monday, Oct. 7, 2024
Election day: Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024
Runoffs: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024
How to register
Voters can register in two ways: mailing in an application or physically handing the application in, both to the county's Circuit Clerk's office.
A registration form can be found online, printed out, filled in and then turned in. If you are registering to vote in Mississippi but do not have a Mississippi driver's license, you must turn in the application with a copy of a valid form of photo ID or other document proving your U.S. residence such as a paycheck or current utility bill.
Voters can use the same form to change their name or address.
