Missouri nonprofit director’s inspiring journey on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’

BELTON, Mo. – Shay Jefferson, the director of a nonprofit called Family Resource Center in Belton, Missouri, recently appeared on ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ to discuss her organization’s mission of providing essentials such as baby supplies, food, and clothing to those in need at no cost.

Jefferson, who grew up on Chicago’s South Side and attended the same high school as Jennifer Hudson, shared her personal experiences with poverty and how they motivated her to help others. She mentioned that what started as a hobby to assist single mothers has now expanded to twelve centers in nine counties across the state of Missouri.

During the show, Jefferson spoke about her goal of eliminating “food deserts” in urban America. Jennifer Hudson surprised Jefferson with a $10,000 donation to help make that dream a reality, courtesy of American Family Insurance.
