HOLLAND — After some confusion over placement, Mister Car Wash has confirmed it has broken ground on a new location off 16th Street in Holland.

In early April, posts on several Holland community Facebook groups theorized the wash would take the place of the former Golden Corral at 12420 Felch St. in Holland Township. One poster claimed a "coming soon" sign had been placed on the site, leading to much community discussion and frustration over the addition of another car wash to the area.

But the sign is now placed much closer to the actual location at 572 E. 16th St. The status of the former Golden Corral building, meanwhile, has changed from "for sale" to "pending sale."

The space, vacant since the restaurant closed for the second time in 2019, was listed at $2.35 million. It's unclear who might be purchasing the space, or what future development plans might be.

The national brand has 28 existing locations in Michigan, but Holland will be its first along the lakeshore. It joins two upcoming Quality Car Wash locations — one at the former Pizza Hut on North Park Drive and another at the former Burger King on River Avenue — both in Holland Township.
