Sep. 15—FREEMAN, S.D. — Valley View Golf Course played host to the Flyer Invitational cross country meet on Wednesday.
Joe Cross from Elk Point-Jefferson ran the top time in the boys division with a 16:56.96, while Josiah Schroeder (17:13.81) from Canistota and Freeman Academy/Marion's Tavin Schroeder (17:36.81) came in second and third, respectively. Silas Holdeman was the highest finisher for Mitchell Christian, running 18:50.6.
Freeman Academy/Marion won the event in the boys division with 17 points, while Mitchell Christian placed second with 19. Canistota finished third with 22 points, and Parker's 34 points put it in fourth place. Hanson came in fifth, while Alcester-Hudson and Dell Rapids St. Mary came in sixth and seventh, respectively.
On the girls side, Chester Area's Larson Emery finished in first place by two minutes with a time of 19:28.13. Colman-Egan's Reese Luze ran a 21:28.6 to place second, and Freeman Academy/Marion's Jada Koerner came in third with a time of 21:50.17.
Hanson took down first place as a team in the girls division with 17 points. Freeman Academy/Marion came in second with 20, followed by Dell Rapids St. Mary with 24 points, Scotland with 41 points and Alcester-Hudson with 43 points.
