Mitchell High School to host Back to School Day Aug. 3

Jul. 27—MITCHELL — Mitchell High School will hold a Back to School Day Wednesday, Aug. 3 in preparation for the start of classes for the 2022-23 school year. The new school year will officially begin with classes Wednesday, Aug. 17.

The Back to School Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Students will receive their class schedule at that time. Completion of the online Annual Information Update, which can be found in the

Parent Portal via the Infinite Campus,

and Student Online Info Form, which can be found on the

Mitchell High School website,

is required before the student can receive their schedule or laptop. The website can be found at www.mitchell.k12.sd.us.

Student information packets were mailed to all high school students. Those who did not receive the packet should contact the high school office as soon as possible at 605-995-3034. Students who are new to the district must provide a copy of a birth certificate and an immunization record.

A locker will be assigned to any student who desires one. A deposit fee of $5 will be charged for the locker key. A $10 fee will be charged for replacement keys.

Student pictures will be taken Aug. 3. All students must have their picture taken for student IDs. If a student is unable to attend registration, picture make-up day will be Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Hot lunches will be served on the first day of school. The cost per lunch at the high school is $3 for students. The cost of breakfast is $2.

Activity passes for school sponsored activities for the 2022-23 school year will be sold for $40 for students in grades K-12.

All checks should be made payable to the Mitchell School District. It is requested that two separate checks be written for activity and lunch account passes. Debit cards and credit cards will not be accepted.

Orientation for freshmen and new students will be held at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center on Wednesday evening, Aug. 3 at 7 p.m. This will be opportunity for ninth graders and new students, along with their parents, to become familiar with the school building and to ask any questions they may have.

There will also be a Fall Activities Meeting Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 7 p.m. at the Mitchell High School Performing Arts Center.
