Mitchell High School marching band brings home second-place trophy from Iowa

Oct. 10—ORANGE CITY, Iowa. — The Mitchell High School marching band continued its season Saturday, Oct. 8 by bringing home another trophy, this one from the Dutchman Field Championships in Orange City, Iowa. The band finished with the second-highest overall score at the competition.

Ryan Stahle, director for the band, praised the students and the hard work they have put in to make it a successful marching season.

"All those early morning repetitions keep paying off," Stahle said. "There are always more details to address, and the kids continue to work and make the little things better."

The second-place finish came among 27 bands in four different classes, which ties the best placement at the Dutchman Field Championships in school history. The school also won the Triple S award — a people's choice award — for the second consecutive year and the Caption Award for best drum majors for the second time this season.

The marching band from Bellevue, Nebraska, took first place Saturday in the overall competition.

The Mitchell High School marching band outdoor season is coming to close, with a halftime performance at the football game Friday, Oct. 14 followed by their final competition on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Quad State Regional Championships at the DakotaDome in Vermillion.
